Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use the matchup tool?
Search and add up to 6 Pokémon on each side. The tool instantly shows speed tiers, type matchup grids, team composition analysis, offensive/defensive rankings, and a recommended bring of 4. You can also define loadouts (moves, items, abilities, EVs, nature) in the Loadouts section.
What does the speed tier table show?
It lists all selected Pokémon (including Mega forms) sorted by effective Speed. Toggle Tailwind or Trick Room to see how the order changes. Pokémon with speed-changing abilities like Swift Swim or Protosynthesis are marked with an asterisk.
How does the 'Recommended bring' work?
When you have 5 or 6 Pokémon on your side, the tool evaluates all possible 4-Pokémon combinations. It scores each by offensive threat (best STAB coverage vs. each opponent), defensive vulnerability, type diversity, and speed advantage — then shows the top 3.
What is the 'Copy agent prompt' button?
It copies a complete text briefing of both teams to your clipboard — species, stats, types, abilities, Mega forms, loadouts, speed order, rankings, and type matchup tables. Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI assistant and ask for matchup advice. The AI gets all the context it needs in one paste.
Can I open the damage calculator from here?
Yes — in two ways. Click any cell in the type matchup grid to open the calculator with that attacker/defender pair prefilled. Or use the 'Damage calc' button to pick any attacker from your team and any defender from the opponent's team. Loadouts (moves, items, EVs, nature) carry over automatically.
Does the matchup grid use my selected moves?
Yes — if you've defined moves in the Loadouts section, the type matchup grid uses the best actual move type against each defender instead of just STAB types. This gives more accurate coverage results for Pokémon with diverse movepools.
